New Vice President elected

The International Society for Fish Endocrinology (ISFE) is pleased to announce the election of Dr. Matan Golan as its new Vice President. Based at the Department of Animal Sciences at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Dr. Golan brings over two decades of expertise and leadership in fish endocrinology to this role.

Throughout his career, Dr. Golan has explored a wide range of topics in fish endocrinology, including sex determination, gonadal development, neuroendocrine control of reproduction, and endocrine regulation of development and metamorphosis. His research has led to major advancements such as the creation of transgenic fish lines, the discovery of functional pituitary cell networks, and the identification of the fish hatching hormone. His work has not only expanded fundamental knowledge in the field but also strengthened international collaboration across Europe, the United States, Japan, and Australia.

In his new role, Dr. Golan will support ISFE President Oliana Carnevali in furthering the Society’s mission. He is committed to promoting collaboration, creating new opportunities for young researchers, and maintaining a strong balance between basic and applied research. A firm believer in interdisciplinary science, Dr. Golan also aims to foster connections with the broader fields of endocrinology and neuroscience to enrich fish endocrinology and attract new voices into the community.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Golan to the ISFE leadership team and look forward to the new energy and vision he brings.
